Jack LOVELOCK Dr John Edward (Jack) Lovelock (1910-1949) won the 1500 metres at the 1936 Berlin Olympic games. He attended Temuka, Fairlie and Timaru schools and went to Oxford in 1931 on a Rhodes scholarship and was a Manhattan doctor at the time of his death. He died beneath a train in Brooklyn, New York. Lovelock's mementos are now on display in a special Memorial Library at Lovelock's former school, Timaru Boys High.
